Parallel ATA provides CRC only for data packets. Serial ATA also features built-in support for first-party DMA to eliminate bottlenecks associated with on-board DMA controllers. It also minimizes electronic noise that can lead to data transmission errors.One of the biggest breakthroughs offered by the Serial ATA technology is PC-friendly cabling. The thinner insulated SATA cables are much easier to install than the shorter, wider Parallel ATA cables.
